Western Red Cedar

At Spahaus we are now delighted to offer our customers thru our connections in the
timber industry Western Red Cedar at a very affordable price.
Western Red Cedar deserves its reputation as the premier cladding material due to its
unique properties and it is used almost exclusively in the construction of our Lodges.

Durability:

Due to its natural rot resistant properties WRC can be left untreated which provides an
attractive silver colour and still offers a lifespan of several decades.
If the natural Cedar colour is preferred the timber can be stained or oiled and it will
retain its reddish colour. Occasional treatments will also extend its durability even
further.

Stability:

Western red cedar has excellent dimensional stability which means it shrinks &
swells minimally due to changes in humidity. Western red cedar also maintains
steady moisture content – in tests dried timber at 6-10% moisture content was left
covered outside for one year & found to have a moisture content of 9-11% which then
remained constant.
Knots in the wood also remain tight over time and it is unrivalled in its resistance to
cupping, warping and general movement.
